The Help is a novel that represents the opinions, personalities and the character’s ideas regarding the southern states flaws on racism. I think that the essential question “What drives our need to belong?” represents this novel well. All of the characters are looking for someone’s approval, whether it’ their kids, husbands, employers or friends.
