Wow. Having not seen Borat for almost a decade, this is my first somewhat grown-up introduction to Sacha Baron Cohen. I don't give Bruno four stars because I think what he's doing is really nasty and perhaps the same point could be made in better ways. However, there is a level of brilliance and incredible skill here that makes for quite the spectacle. Note that this all hinges on the fact that most of his "co-stars" are unsuspecting, but this is not a fact that I doubt. As an aspiring revolutionary (lol), I hope Sacha uses (or continues to use) his talent to bring about real positive change in the world

Almost exactly like Borat, which is to say, filthy lowbrow humor done very intelligently (and hilariously). There are pangs of guilt at laughing at the humiliation of people who might not be all that bad, but thus are the perils of signing a waiver in an attempt to get on TV I guess.

The very bitter message in the movie is that if you're gay, stay the heck out of the US. There's nothing for you in America but incredible pain. Unfortunately, Sacha Baron Cohen seems to know whereof he speaks. When he screams "MY BABY!" I don't understand why anyone thinks this is a comedy?

Incredibly unfortunate. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Sacha Baron Cohen should have stopped at Borat. It didn't even deserve a star. What a waste of time.

It's funny, I guess! It all depends on your sense of humor. I laughed out loud most of the movie, but there were scenes that were outrageous -I'm not a prude or anything like that BTW!- One thing I didn't like was the plot. It's the same plot from the movie Borat. But, overall, a laugh-out-loud movie.

Garbage in my opinion. Not that I'm surprised so many people like this genre. We live in a world of increasingly pre-packaged material tapping into our human voyeristic curiosities (the mainstream news is a prime example). The approach clearly sells more toothpaste and makes folks like Sacha rich. I'm sorry, but for this viewer there are enough "trainwrecks" in everyday life without voluntarily watching the mainstream "news" or this DVD to experience even more. I turned it off after ten minutes: my time on this planet is worth more than that.

This is the second feature length movie by comedian and agitator Sacha Baron Cohen of Borat fame. I loved this movie! As a comedy this movie would stand on its own merits, but take into account that the different pranks are done "Punked" style to an unsuspecting variety of celebrities, agents, govenment offical and anyone else who happens to wander into the sights of the film crew and the true genius really shines through.
The title character Bruno is a eccentric Easten European fashionista who becomes blacklisted in his own shallow world. He moves to the U.S. to make a name for himself and reclaim his former status through a plethora of increasingly desperate stunts that will shock and be hilarious at the same time.
On closer inspection this movie explores the social fabric of the U.S. Taking on such divided issues as gay rights, adoption, swingers parties, military culture, celebrity, stage moms and many other contemporary issues that divide our country. How all this is done is NOT for the faint of heart or closed minded, or maybe it is... Even if this movie were to offend you, it is likely to start lively discussions and debate, and on this point alone a smashing success. The commentary on this disk is well worth a viewing for illumination on how these pranks came about and the potential legal ramifications they held for cast and crew. I laughed so hard I cried. I hope you will as well.
