Very well done and very real. Snowflakes won't like it.

Super movie!

Plethora of fake newborns aside (Seriously, stop. You're embarrassing yourselves. Two month old real life babies masquerading as newborns are more convincing than dolls.), I enjoyed this movie.

Good movie! Just very sad. Being a GI myself and having met a lot of grunts, I can't fathom the reason for the guy killing Chris. Snipers are a bread unto themselves, which is evident in the movie. But if You haven't been there you'll never understand!

The movie is what's to be expected from Eastwood. The characters remained rather flat, I was hoping that we would get to hear more of Chris Kyle's inner process and dialogue. I will have to read the book I imagine to find that level of depth. All-in-all for a war movie the cinematography was good. Clint did a good job of capturing the stress of those left on the home front, the small snippets of life stateside before being sent overseas again were telling and gave us the viewer a glimpse into what an operator with multiple deployments must feel like, coming home and being sent right back over and over again.

American Sniper is a film about the life and death of Chris Kyle, a US Navy Seal Sniper. It showcases the difficulties of being a soldier overseas, displaying the PTSD, pain, and harshness of the battlefield. It shows the life of soldiers on the battlefield, and off. The film also shows the effect that a soldier can have on their family, leaving their wives, children, for long periods of time. The film attempts to break the stigma behind the Military and raises awareness for those who sacrifice their lives for ours. I recommend this movie for all people to watch. Since this is a Clint Eastwood movie, it can only be about one thing - revenge, but a very one-way revenge - the hero is always the one wronged. Consequently all those "ragheads" are committing inhuman atrocities; not Eastwood's hero.
There are many things here that run against the actual activity in Iraq:
1. If there are any signs of enemy activity, the positions are radioed to HQ and the planes bomb the crap out of it.
2. Almost all US fatalities were due to booby-traps and not head to head fighting.
3. No sentimentality allowed - all moving humans are legitimate targets. See Bradley Manning's leak of the infamous US helicopter attack on civil rescue personnel. The refusal of the hero to shoot children is a total bunch of hokum.

Since this is a macho fantasy, why wasn't the soundtrack done by Toby Keith - whose specialty is singing songs about whacking ragheads.

The only (potentially) good part in this story is sloughed off - the ending where the hero (Kyle) is offed by another war veteran.

I thought this was a gripping movie. Its hard to imagine the impact that war brings to a warrior and his or her family, and I think this movie did good to try and depict that personal cost. I didn't think the movie glorified war, but of course only portrayed the perspective of the US soldiers and the pain they endured doing their job for their country. Eastwood did a great job with this movie. From the comments I guess you either loved it or hated it. The story was a tough one, but was well presented.

This movie was well done and entertaining, especially for those who have served during war time. It is clear that the weak-knee'd liberals dislike it for political reasons, as well as their aversion to military, veterans, and those who love our country. It brings to the screen typical Clint Eastwood dedication to reality which many would prefer to avoid in their well insulated lives. Highly recommended.
