Two stories by Dr. Seuss. In the first story, a the Grinch tries to stop Christmas from arriving by stealing all the presents and food from the village, but much to his surprise, Christmas comes anyway. In the second story, if Gerlad McGrew ran the zoo, he'd let all the ordinary animals go and fill the zoo with more unusual beasts from the far corners of the world.

As far as this reviewer is concerned, this is the definitive film version of Dr Seuss' classic Christmas tale. As one of the few children's Christmas movies my friends and I will still make a point of watching on TV every year, this 1/2 hour version avoids many of the filler-related pitfalls of later versions. The only filler in this film is a classic soundtrack that nearly everyone can recognize immediately. Walter Matthau's narration is a pitch-perfect match for the wacky illustrations and this slightly demented, heartwarming tale.
