I'm not much for Disney movies. But I watched this when it first came out, and surprisingly loved it! And I was stoked when I found out that they were redoing The Lion King in the same way... Aaaand then it came out. I saw it. It sucked. It sucked baaad! So I was a slightly reticent about watching this one again - wasn't sure what to expect. It was certainly not as good as it was initially (every animal in the movie is literally about double the size of their real-life counterpart - some even more - a Sloth Bear does not weigh 3000 lbs with a face bigger than his ex-wife's a... but I digress...) it still had a lot more charm and fun than TLK. I think it's because The Jungle Book doesn't take itself so seriously. It's meant as a metaphor and just good fun, whereas TLK seems a bit up it's own butt and trying to be somethin that it's not... Realistic. I can take it if a child sees a bear and a boy and a pack of wolves and a black leopard being friends - because it's just silly - it's goofy. But when kids grow up thinking that bascially hyenas are bad, and lions are majestic, it just puts a bad taste in my mouth. Oh wait - I think that's pennies - excuse me.

A longer, more serious, realistic, and in depth version of the older cartoon movie made by Disney.

A very solid movie. Mowgli's acting is about as good as could be expected, but the best performances are from the animals of course. Murray, Johansson, Elba, Kingsley, Walken, Nyong'o all do fantastic jobs in their roles. It's not the first live-action Jungle Book, but it's definitely the best version, live or animated, period.

I thought over all this is a good movie but the actor who played mowgli his acting was ok but not that good if they had chosen a better actor the movie would have been better but over all I give it 3 and a half stars.

It was so different and great to see a real movie (with animated real animals) made out of the jungle book. The interpretation of the great soundtrack was very good but a bit more music would have been better.

Excellent retelling of the Disney animation. It dragged a bit at some parts.

Great family movie with stunning visuals and graphics. Disney seems to be continuing the tradition of capturing audiences' interest. It was a thrill to watch from start to end with fantastic CGI. The actor, Neel Sethi, did a good job being Mowgli. The story was enjoyable, just like the original. The movement of those animals was smooth and natural, especially the scene where the big orangutan was chasing Mowgli in the old, scary castle ruins and monkeys were screaming loudly. It was quite a thrilling chase!!! And at the end, the orangutan was the one to lose. Baloo and Bagheera were always with Mowgli and their chemistry was amazing. The voices were also on point, actors like Bill Murray, who played Baloo, matched the character perfectly. The ending of Sher Khan reminded me of another Disney classic, the epic "The Lion King". 4 out of 5.

I give the Jungle Book 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. This is a solid recreation of the original Jungle Book and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. First off, the retelling of the Jungle Book was amazing and instead of just copying the original they added more things like the music and added depth to the characters. Secondly I loved the animations and visuals. The animals were animated so well they looked realistic and the background scenes also looked very real. This made the movie really interesting and visually pleasing. Also the voiceover of the characters were really well done, especially the snake, Bagheera and Sher Khan. The actor who played Mowgli did a really good job acting and the only reason I give this movie a 0.5 stars off is because I think the snake should have had a bigger role. 4.5/5. @Bookreader14 The Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board

This an amazing movie! It is based around Mowgli, raised by a family of wolves since birth, must leave the only home he's ever known when the fearsome tiger Shere Khan unleashes his mighty roar. Guided by a no-nonsense panther and a free-spirited bear the young boy meets an array of jungle animals, including a slithery python and a smooth-talking ape. Along the way, Mowgli learns valuable life lessons as his epic journey of self-discovery leads to fun and adventure. I love the plot, the theme and the whole storyline of this movie. I love how it is based around animals. I would recommend this movie to people ages 10+ because there are some scary scenes that might scare a little one. Overall, this is a fabulous movie. If you love animals you will love this move! 5/5. @TheBookWorm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Wonderful movie for children and adults who love the beauties of nature and animals. Bill Murray's voice was easy to recognize in the bear friend, who has his same attitudes.

Tons of quotes in IMDb already as this one:

Bagheera: [tackles Mowgli to restrain him from fighting Shere Khan] Stay here!
Mowgli: [trying to push Bagheera's paw away] But I want to fight like the wolves!
Bagheera: You can't fight him like a wolf! You're NOT a wolf!
Bagheera: Fight him like a man!

But not this one yet:
I realise you weren't born a wolf, but couldn't you at least act like one?
