The cozy villages of Midsomer County reveal their most sinister secrets in these contemporary British television mysteries. The killings at Badger's Drift: The death of an elderly woman and the persistence of her lifelong friend draw Barnaby into a case that reveals the sordid side of this quaint village. Written in blood: Investigating the brutal murder of a Midsomer Worthy writer, Barnaby discovers that the victim had been living a fictitious life. Death of a hollow man: In Causton, Barnaby and his family take part in an amateur theatrical production of Amadeus that provides an abundance of real-life drama. Faithful unto death: When the wife of a wealthy local businessman disappears, Barnaby finds that Fawcett Green harbors a complex web of financial and romantic entanglements. Death in disguise: Barnaby needs all his wits about him as he investigates a string of deaths at a local New Age commune.

After 15 years, I have revisited Midsomer Murders, one of my childhood favorites. Since the episodes are independent of each other, one can watch them in any order, and I would suggest you postponing the first episode as much as possible since it was great and almost every piece in it makes sense. It is also the fourth top-rated episode on IMDb among the 128 episodes and raises the viewer's expectation from the show. Finally, I would like to note that almost all the episodes have LGBTQ people in it. I hope Surgent Troy will learn to be less homophobic in the next seasons.

VERY GOOD set of 5 mysteries on 3 discs set in English village. Detective Barnaby and his assistant Sergeant Troy are put through LOTS of interesting situations as they explore events and circumstances.

I like John Nettles as DCI Barnaby. Great series -very little swearing if any and at times funny. Beautiful scenery.
