Feb 29, 2011. I need a little Burroughs fix. I'm going to start on "Thuvia". I have recently read the first three books in the Mars series and this one is the fourth. I'm really looking forward to the John Carter movie! I have recently purchased the Mars series, but this book has some of the great illustrations that I remember from my youth. March 2, 2012 ...Thuvia was a quick (and enjoyable) read! I would have finished it yesterday, but checked out "Aztec" by Gary Jennings and started that last night instead of finishing this. Will start "Chessmen" as soon as I'm finished Aztec, or maybe in between. Still loving my "Mars" series! .....March18, 2012..finished "Aztec" this morning, so will start on "Chessman". ......March 19, 2012...1/4 of the way through, another fast read. This story is about John Carter's daughter (and a fairly spoiled, haughty little princess she is!) Interestingly enough, I have been waiting to find out when John Carter adopts the "I still live" motto, and have not encountered it in the last four books, but surprise, surprise, Tara is the first to use it, stealing it from her father! Maybe I missed it somewhere in the first 4? but I don't think so! .....March 21, 2012....going on a trip and don't want to take a library book, (or my heavy copy of this one,) so will interrupt my read of this and take along my (much lighter) copy of "Red Dog, Red Dog"! .....May 11, 2012, hmm....gotta get back to this someday! Stuck on Nicolas Nickelby right now!
