New York Times bestselling team.

The multi-million copy bestselling team of LaHaye and Jenkins now focus their considerable literary talent on the beginning of the story with their new series, 'The Jesus Chronicles.' The first of these dramatic tales is the story of a once-broken man who was forever changed when he met the mysterious stranger from Nazareth - this is the story of John. At ninety years old, John is the last of the original twelve apostles still alive, the only one not martyred. Committed to spreading the word of Jesus Christ, he is called by God to write a gospel in order to set the record straight. Recalling his time with Jesus, John brings to life the miracles and messages of the man who would change the course of history.

I really enjoyed this work of biographical fiction. I found the historical perspective fascinating, though I was not quite sure where the facts ended and the 'fiction' began.

John wrote several books of the Bible, and part of the text of some of those is included in the text of the story. I usually skipped those parts. I found the story read just as well without them.

There were some great descriptions of how they tried to kill John (and in the epilogue one other person) but miraculously failed.

Liked it a lot.
