Dead Dog Cafe
Volume 3Audiobook CD - 2005
Welcome to the Dead Dog Cafe Comedy Hour. The talk is lively, and the coffee's always on. Tom's buying. The Dead Dog Cafe started with Tom King's novel "Green Grass, Running Water". The cafe of the book features all sorts of `dead dog' items on the menu, such as the ever-popular deep fried puppy whatnots. This cafe came to life when Kathleen Flaherty (Dead Dog Cafe producer/director) and Tom King got together to think about a short radio series. Tom came up with the idea of running the show from a cafe, with three native characters that didn't know anything about radio. Since the name "Dead Dog Cafe" did him good service in the novel, he decided to revive it for the radio series. Besides, it's inherently funny. You know the regulars by now, Jasper Friendly Bear, or Captain Dead Dog. Voted most likely to aim for world domination, always using Tom as his a reluctant pawn. Of course, there's Gracie Heavy Hand, the more pragmatic one. As a businesswoman, she's very supportive of Jasper, when it stands to make her some money. Or offers her an opportunity to laugh at Tom. Then there's Tom King, who gets to play himself. And open the door for the fire. He thinks he's cerebral. He also thinks that he understands both native and white culture, but...well, he tries. Sound interesting? You know it is. Volume 3 contains episodes from the third season. The first season is available on Volume 1 and 2. And the second season is available on Volume 2.
