Short punchy chapters that really pull you through the story. I found there was a bit of a slump in the middle, but the ending made it worth it!

"That rarest of beasts: the perfect thriller. This extraordinary novel set my blood fizzing—I quite literally couldn’t put it down. I told myself I'd just dip in; eleven hours later—it's now 5:47 a.m.—I've finished it, absolutely dazzled."

Such a slooooooow, nothing-happening first half; pretty surprising for a pot-boiler thriller. I was just about ready to put it down when the pace picked up. Then it became very readable but dumb as dirt. But I guess I'm pretty dumb for bothering to finish.

Completely implausible connection of characters; what Roger Ebert called "the idiot plot." A good twist at the end, but not sure it's worth the read to get there.

I read the reviews on this book and realized that some were not so kind. I decided to give it a chance and so glad I did. I found this book an excellent read. I hope this author continues to write more novels. I probably could have read this in one sitting but wanted the suspense to continue. I usually have a good idea who the person of interest is but this one kept be hanging. I only had the book for 7 days and read more than half the first day. It’s that good. Enjoy.

I give this a 5/5 for its genre. If you're into psychological thrillers, as I am on some occasions, this book has rich character development, some incredible twists and a perfect setting for the story in central London and at a psychiatric care facility (I read the author worked at a facility like this and has a background in therapy both as a patient and working in care, which shows in the book).
I constantly tried to figure out the ending, and I normally pride myself on predicting/ruining the endings of most things but this took me by surprise. Highly recommend if you're into this genre or just looking for an intense page turner!

I'm sorry, but I can not see how has been rated so highly. Everyone, and I do mean everyone in it, has been so screwed up by their parents that they are all a mess. I know life can be hard but really? Is everyone this warped and twisted? The surprise ending was ridiculous and dare I say, sick. I know that life can be hard and tragic but completely hopeless and pointless? I don't think so. I had to read this for a book club. I was very disappointed and somewhat irritated that I had to waste my time in this way when there are so many other worthwhile books out there. I now have to expend energy trying to forget what I read- it was that disturbed. Two hours of my life that could have been better spent.

Could. Not. Put. This. Down. Also: points for actually surprising me with the twist, which is hard to do given how many books of this type I read.

I love listening to books only in the car and feel privy as if its a special performance just for me. The readers of this were exceptional. Not my usual choice of topics but I loved this book.

just finished this book. it is very well written and is able to hold
your interest until the ending. the author did a very good job making
reading and following the plot of the book well. it is a very good
psychological mystery builds the suspense and holds you until
the ending.

I found this slow and figured out what was happening 2/3 of the way thru. Only OK as far as I'm concerned.
