Oh my goodness, this was such a sweet story! When Moon’s family moves to town, rumors begin to spread about Moon, where she came from, and what her family is like. Before you know it, Moon becomes Christine’s neighbor, and Christine is now forced to hang out with her. Without hesitation Moon invites Christine into her world, and becomes the friend Christine always needed. With all great relationships come hard times, and when those fall on Moon, Christine has to decide if she is going to be the friend Moon needs. What I loved about this book is how it shows how these young girls can overcome their differences and disagreements in a healthy way. Rarely are you going to find someone who is going to agree with you on everything, so I found this to be a refreshing read for young readers. It offers a realistic approach to friendship and how it can change over time.

Christine and new classmate/neighbor Moon have a sweet and tender friendship with each other as they experience the ups and downs of middle school.

I loved everything about this recently released graphic novel. Moon lives with her widowed mother and they have been struggling financially. Christine is from a two-parent family. When they become next door neighbors they begin to discover common ground. Jen Wang has drawn on her own childhood experiences to bring us this friendship story. There are so many worthy topics that are addressed including religion, bullying, jealousy, and illness. The graphics are simply gorgeous and really bring the narrative to life. Put this in the hands of kids who love Raina Telgemeier, Shannon Hale, Cece Bell, and Vera Brosgol.

I love Jen Wang's art, and this time, it's a whole graphic novel. This was a real treat as it deals with so many themes, like bullying, friends, health issues, fitting in when your culture maybe isn't the same.....extremely well done. An excellent addition to middle school comics!

Fantastic middle grade graphic novel about two Chinese-American girls who learn the meaning of friendship, family and individuality, told with eye-catching artwork. Absolutely a fan of Jen Wang.

A wonderful portal into the lives of two young Chinese-Americans who become close friends even though they couldn't be more different.

For fans of Raina Telgemeier and Svetlana Chmakova comes Stargazing. Moon and Christine are both living as Chinese kids in America. They are very different, but they quickly become close friends. Moon loves dancing and K-pop and drawing. Christine plays violin and takes Chinese classes and tries to be perfect to live up to her father's standards. Moon teaches Christine to dance and enjoy vegetarian Chinese dishes. She also confides some of her secrets, like the celestial ladies she has visions of who will take her away some day. Christine also has to learn how to be a good friend when Moon ends up in the hospital.

Great illustrations, so much fun to read!
