Sir Charles Cartwright welcomes 14 guests for a lavish feast at his seaside estate. Among those assembled is Hercule Poirot. The local rector partakes a pre-dinner cocktail, and promptly falls to the floor, quite dead. If a poison did the rector in, who's next? Leave it to Poirot to bring down the final curtain. Far too little Poirot; far too much the discreet gentleman Satterthwaite. "Egg" is just too silly a toddler's nickname to live on to adulthood.

Once again Hercule Poirot's grey matter rises above the rest. Lots of possibilities and characters to love and/or despise.

Well worth reading.
