If they couldn't train a few dogs, they shouldn't be attempting Jack friggin London.
Have these animators ever observed real dogs?
Dog is terrible
If you decide to watch this film then be prepared to spend a lot of time in the "uncanny valley." And what a waste of Karen Gillan's talent.
The film makers also should have hired a Yukon naturalist as a consultant to correct their errors. The map and terrain show Buck and John moving upstream while they are only shown going downstream in the canoe. There were no wild pigs in the Yukon hinterlands in the 1890s. The game bird Buck kills looks more like an exotic pheasant than a native grouse or ptarmigan. And not a single black fly all summer--get real!
Terrible. Jack London is surely turning over in his grave.
They should have used a real dog. Harrison Ford was the only redeeming element of this movie. The really dumbed-down film version of a great book.
Family movie. Nice story but too “Disney-esque” to satisfy adult viewers when this novel was made for people of all ages.
Call of the Wild turned into Scoobie Doo. So badly done even the 12 year olds will be rolling their eyes. Classic case of Disney ruining a good story.
Barbara Jean thought it was very cute. Dog almost looked and acted real. If I was grading the movie using the college grading system it would be a c+. which is good but not exceptional. Acting was good by some and it had a nice ending. Not one I would watch again. A good movie for young children. Prior to my teen years I would have loved this move. What was funny , when I saw the title "The Call of the Wild" I thought of the old joke, what is the most horrific sound coming out of the forest? It was Euell Gibbons trying to pass a pine cone. For those who don't remember him he was an outdoorsman and early health food advocate, promoting eating wild foods during the 60's
This was a good movie and it was so cut the dog was really smart:)!!!
Good virtual dog development but he acted more like a kid than a dog. Should do well with young families.
The shallow script prevented any characters from standing out. Change the title to "Call of the Mundane".
