Excellent documentary...the presenter, Professor Amanda Vickery, was energetic and enthused about this topic and well researched. Highly recommended.

If you can make it past Dr. Vickery's presentation, this is an extremely interesting portrayal of women in art from the Renaissance to Pre-Impressionism. As brontelit87 states, there is no mention of Mary Cassatt. Nor of the Eastern contributions (art of the Geisha, etc.) to the history of art. I highly recommend the first two of these three segments.

Overall, this is a very interesting series. Nearly two dozen fascinating artists are covered. However, I don't know if Dr. Vickery was the best person to research and present this show. I don't believe that she's an art historian. I was shocked that the Impressionist artist, Mary Cassatt, was not covered. She was not even mentioned during Vickery's presentation on the French Impressionist, Berthe Morisot. In any case, though, this was a fascinating and tragic series. Highly recommended.
