If ever there was a bona fide, real-life "Hollywood-Mother-From-Hell" - I'd say that Joan Crawford would definitely be that woman in the flesh (at least, according to Christina, Joan's adopted daughter, she was).

Published back in 1978 (one year following Joan's death at age 73) - "Mommie Dearest" certainly gave Christina the perfect opportunity to royally rake Joan right through the coals and (publicly) exact her revenge against this woman for being written out of her will.

If you have ever seen the 1981 screen adaptation of Christina's "tell-all" book - You'll soon realize (after reading this lengthy printed account) that the events surrounding Joan's alleged bouts of physical and psychological abuse against Christina, and her brother, Christopher, were certainly toned down considerably for the movie version of "Mommie Dearest".

Great book and account about Christina's life, honesty, and success. The respect in honoring her mother who had a family outside the Hollywood Dream for that time period, well done!

Christina doesn't sugarcoat the real story and there is more detail than what the movie version had to portrait, but got pivot points of view that were important to Christina, as an author and the subject of the book.

Great book for people that are going through family trials and tribulations.

I look at how the world treats one another and sometimes I feel like saying, "I wonder what goes on in other people's houses?"

I went through similar situations, looking for a safe place to run, figure out what you did wrong, and why everyone that said they love you turns around and treats you in an abusive manner, and making you believe you brought it onto yourself. Horrible!

The book taught me a lot about mistakes and the primary cause of illness, which is humiliation, the after quake of a narcissistic family than can not see themselves from an outsider's perspective.

Personally, the book taught me that the humiliation I was abused into feeling is the road block in my life. So, I am healing, relating, and moving forward. Excellent and I am grateful to have learned this. I pray everyday now and do what I can to help others.

Thank you Christina Crawford. I hope I get to shake your hand one day. Indeed, our time is worthy.

"Christmas Cards???" The part about the notes, it cracks me up!
