Laney is an attractive, intelligent suburban wife and devoted mother of two adorable children. She has the perfect husband who plays basketball with the kids in the driveway, a pristine house, and a shiny SUV for carting the children to their next activity. However, just beneath the facade lie depression and disillusionment that send her careening into a secret world of reckless compulsion. Only very real danger will force her to face the painful root of her destructiveness.

This dreary movie felt like it was 4 hours long. Sarah Silverman did an excellent job in the dramatic role.

Sarah Silverman is drunk and high...at least in this movie. Sometimes comedians do some serious acting and Silverman does just that in I SMILE BACK.

This movie seems very true to real life stuff. I have a whole new respect for Sarah Silverman as an actress.

Sarah Silverman did an amazing job. She was totally believable. Why do comics make the best dramatic actors? Great movie.

A story we've all seen a hundred times before. But the most annoying about it is the lack of resolution.

While this was a well-written and well-acted film, I couldn't help thinking all the way through that this story of addiction and self-destruction has already been told many times in other movies. I don't want to discount the reality and seriousness of addiction in our society, but I just felt that I had already seen all of this before, and the only thing new in this film were the actors and settings.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was more hard-hitting than I anticipated, but I watched every minute feeling the sheer desperation of Sarah Silverman's character, Lanie. The story was excellent. This is a very serious drama, so if you're looking for laughs from Silverman, you'll find very few. But this picture is so worth seeing. Silverman is compelling here, and I'd like to see her in other dramatic roles in the future. Her husband, Bruce, is played with beautiful understatement by familiar character actor, Josh Charles. He was terrific as a husband trying to figure out how to keep his wife from going off the deep end. If you want to watch something that is for adults, is boldly told, and won't spoon-feed or bore you, then you should check out "I Smile Back."

For a known comedian, Sarah Silverman, performed well in this movie. If you want to watch the impact & effects a drug addict has on a family, this is a movie for you.

So, why is our 2016 Federal government trying to legalize cannabis? Granted it's the gentler narcotic of the group but a mind altering drug none-the-less.

I Liked the movie. Sarah Silverman was amazing.

Sarah Silverman, comedian, takes on a roll quite different from her usual work. She plays a suburban housewife who may be depressive, but certainly is addicted to cocaine and alcohol and in the midst begins to dangerously sleep-around. Silverman is excellent in this tragic, serious role.
