“Lullaby”, Book #2 of the “Watersong” series, written by Amanda Hocking, continues “Gemma’s” story of choosing between her personal and siren life. After being forcefully turned into a siren in the previous book in this series, Gemma is trying to adjust to her new life but is unable to fully detach herself from her personal life which is necessary for being a siren. Although none of us are sirens, we all can still relate to “Gemma” because we all have faced times when we need to choose between two important parts of our life, (personal and professional, etc.). This book involves so much suspense and mystery and is incredibly hard to put down. After reading two other series also written by Amanda Hocking, I have observed that she has a very unique writing style because she can take a simple story and make it sound so interesting, and I admire her for that. This story does get a little bit violent and intense at some points, but if you are someone who can handle things like that then I would definitely recommend this book to you! I give this book a 4 out of 5. @Rose of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Aaaand the book just keeps stretching. Sure, there were somewhat interesting parts, but the attitude of the other two sirens to Gemma really made a lot uncomfortable. Meanwhile, Harper (the sister) is fretting about her and is doing her best to fight against the odds, but the author just didn't hook that quite right. The fierce fighting between the new siren and her longings are driving her a bit mad, when will she succumb to them as she will eventually? I feel that this book's good aspects and bad aspects pull it evenly so it lands somewhere in my middle category of "not good, but not that bad". 3/5 stars @Siri of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
