This is an amazing book. It will make you want to research climbing and climbers, and that's something, coming from someone who can't even go up two steps on a stepladder! At first, I thought 'get on with the story' as it begins rather slowly, but the more I listened, the more I began to like this book. It's one of those books that doesn't sound like fiction. I was annoyed sometimes with the American character, mainly because he sounded immature, but then he is only in his twenties in the book so can be forgiven I suppose, even though I didn't like his attitude towards Winston Churchill. He's the only character that sounds a little out of touch with the 1920's era. The others were brilliantly written.
