Once I started watching this film, I was glad that my husband was not watching with me. He suffers from anxiety and depression.
With how the film starts, I wasn't sure that I was going to like it. However, the film explains Ove's life through flash backs and you better understand where he is coming from. I could then empathize with Ove. This curmudgeon who you expect everyone to dislike - even hate - because of his attitude towards others - is a pleasant surprise.
I usually read the books first- and based on the extras available on the DVD with the discussion with the actors and director- I can't wait to read the book.
I should also note- I was particularly interested in this film originally as it was Sweden's entry to the Academy Awards a few years ago for the Foreign Film category.
