C. J. Box's THE BITTERROOTS is a very entertaining read with lots of action and plenty of twists and turns. This is NOT, however, JOE PICKETT novel. I am not sure if this will be a stand-alone novel, or the start of a series with a (somewhat) new character, Cassie Dewell - think back to the story about a twisted, long-distant trucker that Dewell helped bring down. This novel is one in which a very dysfunctional family is very powerful in its own community to the extent that they can do just about whatever they want and get away with it - even to discredit one of their own. Police corruption, country living and violence galore. I did not see the ending coming. Have fun with another great read by Box.
