Difficult to believe this book found a publisher. Destroyed my stereotypical image of the skilled British literary mystery writer. Every chapter is the same. It goes over the same thing constantly. The reader is not moved forward. It is like listening to someone constantly moaning. If this author has written a no. 1 bestseller, I really must read it and others of hers, because this one is so disappointing, it's like reading a school girl's essay attempt. Her books have been made into TV series and her writing "acclaimed" according to some websites, but this was tedious, the language boring, and the characters lifeless. Lots of "telling", but very little "showing."
